What are you going to do today!

Wight Charter safety policy

Your safety is of paramount importance and with this in mind our boats are maintained to the highest standards.
Wight Charter boats are fully insured and are coded by the Marine and Coastguard Agency (MCA) and/or commercially licenced by the neccesary regulatory authorities, thus ensuring they carry all the safety equipment neccesary for the area we operate in around the Solent and the Isle of Wight.

Our skippers hold :
Power Boat Level 1 and 2 certificate
Safety Boat Certificate.
Advanced Power Boat certificate.
Sea Survival certificate
Commercial endorsements
First Aid Certificates.
MCA Certificate of medical fitness
VHF radio operators License.

This enables us to shoulder the responsibility for your safety and your enjoyment.

  • Wight Charter boats carry lifejackets and life rafts in accordance with Maritime Coastguard Agency
    ( MCA) regulations
  • We have charts on board for the waters in which we operate, a magnetic compass and a hand bearing compass, a GPS Chart plotter, an echo sounder, DSC VHF radio fitted to the boats plus a handheld set, flares, lifebuoys, lifelines.
  • Fire extinguishers are easily located and we carry a full first aid kit.
  • Wight Charter Ribs that are MCA coded have 10 man Sea Survival Liverafts with full SOLAS packs for your ultimate safety.
  • We can supply adult and children’s lifejackets but it is the responsibility of any adult who brings a child on a charter to ensure that the child wears a properly sized and fitting lifejacket.
  • If you are taking prescribed medication or if you suffer with a disability or illness that is relevant to your or other passengers safety, especially one such as a heart condition, a stroke condition, epilepsy, diabetes vertigo blackouts, mobility problems or any other condition that could lead to any form of attack or collapse requiring medical attention you are obliged to inform us before departure.
  • you are always given a safety briefing and made aware of basic emergency procedures and we ask you to follow the orders of the Skipper or crew in all safety matters. The safety of the vessel, her passengers and crew is of the utmost importance.
